LMCU announces scholarship opportunity and financial resources

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan – The Lake Michigan Credit Union is now a sponsor of Financial Literacy Bee EVERFI 2021, the Credit Union tells us.

We are told that the EVERFI Financial Literacy Bee, which is due to run until April 15, is a national scholarship competition that allows students to learn the basics of budgeting. Students aged 13 to 18 are eligible to compete.

LMCU says contestants will receive brief digital lessons before they write an essay on how the writer intends to achieve a goal of short-term or long-term savings.

Three winners will be chosen to receive up to $ 10,000 in scholarships, according to the credit union.

“We have always been committed to helping students increase their financial literacy, and during this historic time, we are also working to help parents feel more comfortable having conversations at the money table,” said EVERFI President Ray Martinez. “The Financial Literacy Bee is a fun way for students to learn important strategies for increasing their savings. “
